Q: What is covered in this CPR class?

This class covers adult CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) use, choking response, and First Aid basics. You practice each skill hands-on with an instructor, the way you would use it in a real emergency.

Q: Is the class in person and hands-on?

Yes. The entire class is in person at our Orlando campus, and you practice on manikins with an instructor. This matters, because the American Heart Association requires a hands-on skills check for a valid card, so an online-only certificate is not the same thing.

Q: Will I get an official American Heart Association card, and when?

Yes. When you complete the class you earn an American Heart Association course completion card. It is issued through the official AHA eCard system, emailed to you to claim, and verifiable online. Bring a valid email address to class.

Q: How long is my CPR certification valid, and how do I renew?

American Heart Association course completion cards are valid for two years. To stay current, retake the class before your card expires. Employers and programs require an unexpired card.

Q: How long is the class and how much does it cost?

The class is about 4 hours, up to 6 depending on class size, and runs on Fridays and Saturdays at our Orlando campus. The cost is $90, or $70 if you completed a course at FHCA within the last year.

Q: Who should take this class, do I have to work in healthcare?

No. This class is open to everyone 16 and older. It is a good fit for workplace and OSHA-designated responders, coaches and personal trainers, parents and caregivers, and healthcare workers who need a current CPR card.

Q: What are the age requirements?

You must be at least 16 years old to take the class. Students between 16 and 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Q: Is this the AHA BLS Provider (Healthcare Provider) course that nursing and clinical programs require?

This class covers adult CPR, AED, and First Aid for the workplace and community. Some nursing, medical assistant, and clinical programs require the American Heart Association BLS Provider card, also called Healthcare Provider, specifically. If your program requires BLS, call us at (407) 275-5880 before you book so we can confirm the right course for you.

Q: Will my AHA card be accepted by my employer?

American Heart Association training is widely accepted by employers and for workplace and OSHA compliance because it includes a real, in-person skills check. If your employer requires a specific card level, confirm this class covers what you need before you book, and we are happy to help.

Q: Do I need CPR certification to work in a Florida childcare center or daycare?

Florida childcare rules require staff to hold current pediatric, meaning infant and child, CPR. This class focuses on adult CPR, so it does not by itself meet the childcare pediatric requirement. Call (407) 275-5880 and we will point you to the right option.
